Zedekiah P. Schild : Biography

Son of Portland, Oregon based artist, Pamela Y. Gonsalves, Zedekiah’s primary mediums are painting and printing. Embracing informality of line and direct simplicity, the accidental gesture is ever-present in his work. Often described as “naivist” and “primitivist”,  Schild's paintings are characterized by symbols and methods hewn from personal experience, and the pursuit of an instinctual process.

A regular exhibitor at events such as Oakland, California’s Art Murmur, and Portland, Oregon’s Last Thursday, Schild also frequently exhibits his work on the streets of San Francisco at community events or in “guerilla” art exhibits.  His work has shown in both traditional and non-traditional contexts throughout the Western United States.

Zedekiah was chosen as a Polymer Institue Fellow and will exhibit in Tallinn, Estonia in the winter of 2015, and has recently begun to exhibit his work intenationally.

So far for 2015 Zed has had a solo show in Portland, Oregon, and Oakland, California. He has exhibited in group shows in Dubuque, Iowa to County Curan, Ireland.  He was also selected to show in the Rochester Museum of Fine Art Bienniel.

Born in Eugene, Or. , Zedekiah currently lives and works between Portland, Oregon and San Francisco, California.  He studied occasionally at Portland State University and University of Oregon.
